Description

The BlueGrip J series introduces a groundbreaking combination of two top-performing rubber technologies. Developed under the guidance of DONIC’s new partner, Zhang Jike, this innovative series merges the strengths of the Bluestar A and BlueGrip C lines.

The top sheet is based on the high-performance mixture from the BlueStar A series, while the sponge structure and pimple geometry are borrowed from the BlueGrip C. The result is a rubber that delivers outstanding dynamics, exceptional spin potential, and powerful performance—all while maintaining excellent touch and control. The BlueGrip J1 has the hardest sponge, designed for maximum speed and power.

Chinese table tennis legend Zhang Jike played a key role in the development process, dedicating countless hours to fine-tuning every detail. The final product reflects a perfect blend of the most successful features from two proven series—earning it the name “J” in honor of Zhang Jike’s contribution.

  1. Rod –

I replaced my Bluegrip V1 with the J1 and have practiced twice with it. The J1 feels as if I just glued it—it looks absolutely new. The top sheet is grippy but not super tacky, which I liked because it gives me extra control. Blocking is straightforward and effective. The loop drives are amazing, delivering great sound, spin, and speed. I expected it to be heavier; it weighs 73 g uncut and 51 g after cutting, used on a Yinhe T11S blade. Update after 6 months (March/2026): now I’m full Donic, Andrers Lind blade ST and J1 at both sides. Full setup is 20g heavier than previous. Yinhe T11S is light but Anders’s blade matches better with J1. And what a pretty combination. I’m using this blade for 1 month and the adaptation was quick. It is easy to use and it gives me confidence, which is important thanks to the good control. Training section and confidence allows me to attack 2nd and 3rd balls. The hardness 55 is my new favorite feature and I confess I was afraid of this jump. For a long time I thought density 47.5 was the highest I would try, and anything higher would drop control. However, I was wrong, density 55 sponge with this great top sheet gave me gears. I can block, and also attack with speed and spin. Before this Donic blade, I tried Andro NUZN50 at my Yinhe T11S’ backhand with J1 at forehand. Andro NUZN50 is great but I regretted I didn’t buy the 55. The NUZN50 lacked an extra drop of speed the J1 has. I didn’t like and I realized I should have J1 at both sides. Therefore, my tip is: don’t get scared with this hardness.
