This is a one-ply Hinoki Wood blade from Dawei. One-ply Hinokis are popular among Japanese Penhold grip players, led by players like Ryu Seung Min of Korea.
What’s special about one-ply Hinoki blades is that the grains of the wood line up parallel to the length of the blade, so when you loop the parallel grains work together to catapult the ball, a more elastic feel, good for mid-distance looping.
