Equipment 101 – The Basics!

Here’s what you need to know before ordering a racket, rubbers, or blades.

Sponge Thickness. Thicker = more speed and spin

The sponge layer under the rubber topsheet. It’s not “padding” to absorb energy, it acts as a catapult or a spring, so a thicker sponge lets the ball sink in deeper, and catapult the ball out with more spin and speed!

Thicker sponge = more speed and spin. Thinner sponge = more control.
